There are people and organizations that are helping to preserve integrity in food. Farm Folk/City Folk is doing much towards this cause. One of the public fundraisers, Feast of Fields, is a good way to see what local chefs do to support this endeavor. You get to eat your way through an incredible and tasty array of food. The event happens every September-in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island. On Vancouver Island, the Farm Folk/City Folk representative, Mara Jernigan, is one of the biggest supporters of local, seasonal and organic eating I know. She, husband Alfons, son Julian and farm manager Eun Mi maintain the organic Engeler Farm where they grow grapes for winemaking and raise meat and vegetables for their own personal consumption. They organize farm tours so you can meet and see first hand some of the people responsible for growing great food and preserving our food supply.
